This meal is definitely a favorite around here… Whenever it’s brought up as an option for dinner, Chris immediately jumps on it 😄 It is a rich, creamy, insanely delicious recipe! The original recipe calls for spicy smoked sausage, but I’m a wimp and can’t do spicy anything, so I substitute it for kielbasa. Oh my word, it’s SO good!! If it wasn’t so fattening, I’d make it once a week!
I half the recipe, because we’re just two people, and if there’s too many leftovers I’m going to want to eat them 😉 I also omit the cayenne pepper and red pepper flakes, because again, I’m a wimp. I do add some breadcrumbs on top before broiling, and I usually substitute the mozzarella cheese for a Mexican Colby blend, because that’s what I have on hand!
