Anyone remember this classic Looney Tunes clip? 🤣
Two years ago, right at the beginning of another crazy wedding season beginning, I never would have thought that now I’d be sitting here writing posts about curtains 😂 But truly, I’ve never been happier! I’m loving every bit of this new life.
I’m actually super excited about this post, because I finally have more curtains up! When I last shared the dining room, I said that except for the curtains, it was completely finished. Well now I can say that it’s really completely finished! And not only that, I also now have the beautiful curtains I wanted in our master bedroom.
First, the bedroom! When we first bought the house, we started out with those super cheap paper curtains. In fact, we still have those hanging up in our bay window, because we have another big project to do there before we hang curtains. They work really well, but they’re so annoying to have to roll up and down every day. First world problems, right?
Well the new curtains (I guess I should be calling them blinds??) that I wanted were not the cheapest things in the world. I’ve always loved the thick wood blinds, and I knew I wanted those instead of the normal, flimsy vertical blinds. So I decided to ask for them for my birthday, and Chris delivered!! And not only for the bedroom, he also got me the same blind for in the kitchen, because I’m constantly getting blinded by the sun when I do dishes in the afternoon.
The biggest surprise was that they are cordless! This really shouldn’t have been a surprise because they literally say CORDLESS in the title. But I’m a little slow sometimes and I totally missed that 😉 So now I can just lift them up and pull them down, and it makes me happy every time I open or close them!
Here’s the before of the paper blinds…
Functional, but definitely not the classiest thing you’ve ever seen 😉
I was so happy to see them get peeled off!
I love the shadows they make!
Now for the dining room… In case you forgot, here’s what it looked like without curtains:
I wanted to use Young House Love’s trick for the IKEA Lenda curtains, and it worked like a charm! I love the linen texture, and the farmhouse look it gives the room. I ended up purchasing just one thing of curtains (it includes two panels that are 55” a piece), and mom helped me cut them in half so that each window only uses one panel, but they still open to both sides. I think they turned out fantastic! They make the room so much softer, and it pulls it all together.
All in all, I’m so pleased with how all the curtains turned out! Such a small thing that can make a huge difference. I’d love to hear what you all think too!
