This is a super simple recipe that I learned from my mom, and I think it makes the BEST sausage gravy! Chris loves biscuits and sausage gravy, and I love making food that he loves, so it’s a win-win 😉
Homemade sausage gravy is a million times better than what you can buy in those little packets, and it’s so incredibly easy! Once you make the real thing, you’ll never go back ☺️ Full recipe at the end of this post!
First you brown the sausage:
Add 1/2 cup of flour:
Stir until it’s more like a paste, or ‘gummy’:
Add 3 cups of milk:
Add about 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce:
Let it cook until thick, usually about 5 minutes:
Serve over warm biscuits! YUM!
Homemade Sausage Gravy:
1 lb sausage
1/2 cup flour
3 cups milk
1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
Brown the sausage over medium heat. Add 1/2 cup of flour to the browned sausage. Cook it until it’s a paste consistency, then add milk. The more flour you add, the more milk you can add, and the more gravy you can make. Ad Worcestershire sauce, stir. Let thicken, stirring occasionally. Serve over warm biscuits!
