This past weekend, we went camping with Chris’s family (and brought Joelle along too)! He has been telling me about Grayson Highlands State Park ever since we met, and he said that I would love the rhododendrons in June, and the wild ponies. He was absolutely right!! We stayed at Grindstone Campground, which is about a 30 minute drive from the state park.

My family was never really big on camping… it stemmed from a few horrible experiences, some of which involved a flooded tent, an awful cabin, and sleepless nights πŸ˜„Β  Chris has quite a bit more camping experience than me, and I really enjoyed our time in the woods! It made me excited for the next camping trip!

I wouldn’t say that this trip was super relaxing, but that’s not a bad thing! We were just busy hiking and exploring. Joelle and I did spend most of our time at camp in the hammocks though, so the weekend definitely wasn’t free of laziness πŸ˜‰

I made a short video of our trip, so many sure you watch it at this link, or at the end of this post!

The ponies didn’t pay any attention to Lincoln, and he didn’t care about them either! It was too funny πŸ˜„

Poor baby… he scraped the pads of his feet on the rocks, and it was painful for him to walk right at the end! 😞  He weighs almost 100 pounds, but Chris carried him for a good portion of the last mile! But we babied him for the next two days, and he’s perfectly fine now! The pads have all healed up ☺️

They were both very sleepy on the drive home πŸ˜„
